How do I get off people-search sites?
One site at a time, on each site's own opt-out page, and then again later, because listings can come back.
Opt out on each site
Each site has its own form. Some want the address of your listing, some an email confirmation, some a phone call. The opt-out tracker on the main page links to each site's own page and notes what it asks for.
Check again later
The FTC: Periodically check the people search sites.
and If you find any new information about yourself, submit a new opt-out request.
It also says opting out doesn't delete your information from public records
(FTC). The tracker sets a date to check again for each site.
California residents
California's DROP platform sends one deletion request to every data broker registered with the state. The state agency: Starting August 1, 2026, data brokers must access DROP at least once every 45 days to begin processing deletion requests.
(California Privacy Protection Agency). Publicly available information is not covered.
Track each opt-out with its status and a date to check again.
